AG 6: Training courses on activities related to sustainable tourism

A series of training courses on sustainable tourism activities was organised for the local population to foster its participation in sustainable tourism and regional development.

Trainings were offered on the following topics: Local guides, cave tour guiding, maintenance and management of traditional orchards, small business management, project design, strategic planning and sustainable development.

Over 160 local people, including residents from the neighbouring region in Slovakia, participated in the trainings. The training of guides resulted in the design of 18 village/regional walks with printed material for each walk which are offered to visitors by the participants of the course. Three participants of the cave tour training were employed by the national park for the season 2007.
